A proposal for the formation of a histotechnology group in Queensland was accepted by laboratory staff and commercial representatives at a meeting on the 18th September, 1982 at the School of Veterinary Science, University of Queensland.

The aim, structure and function of the New South Wales group was outlined to provide guidelines for the development of a similar organisation in Queensland. An interim committee was formed to undertake the initial development of the group and publication of a newsletter. This started as Histotext, and later became the "Tissue Paper."

The objective of the group is the promotion and advancement of the Art and Science of Histotechnology and related interests.

Our goal is to hold regular meetings throughout the year. These may consist of one or more of the following. A presentation of original papers, Lectures and/or demonstrations, laboratory visits, new trade products or displays, problem solving discussion seminars.

An annual subscription fee of AU$25-00 is required along with a completed application form to cover the cost of printing the "Tissue Paper" and gives the member voting rites and updates of upcoming events.

Membership is open to all interested persons.
